Our Area:
Explore Glacier Country - At Your Own Pace

Moss Mountain Inn is ideally located near Glacier National Park, the North Fork of the Flathead River, Columbia Falls, and countless year-round outdoor adventures.
What makes this area truly special is not just the destinations, it is the space
between them - wildlife crossings, snow-covered forests, early morning bird song, the kind of moments that cannot be rushed.
Our guests come here to hike, kayak, photograph wildlife, snowshoe, cross-country ski, ride with local snowmobile guides, float the river, experience dog sledding, and immerse themselves in the best of Montana's outdoors in every season.

Others come simply to unplug. To read beside the fire. To watch birds from the solarium. To breathe deeply and remember what quiet feels like.
Whether you spend your days exploring Glacier National Park or relaxing beneath the trees with a cup of coffee, Moss Mountain Inn offers a peaceful home base for experiencing Northwest Montana naturally and intentionally.

Most visitors come to see Glacier National Park with our easy location and relaxing atmosphere. Of course you will find all the beauty and adventure you could dream of, from rugged mountains, crystal-clear lakes, and alpine forests to a healthy abundance of wildlife unique to these remote areas in Glacier.

But it's good to keep in mind that there are many other activities and attractions in our area outside of the park that you will want to consider.

There are numerous trails in the area that are less frequented by the crowds of Glacier and just as beautiful. Check out our "join the adventure page" for some ideas or check out this USDA website
https://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/flathead/recreation/hiking/?recid=66162&actid=50
These trails can also be used in the winter if you have the backcountry bug for skinning, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.

Many guests enjoy a summer chair or gondola ride up Whitefish Mountain Resort, a drive through the cherry orchards on the east side of Flathead Lake, or a visit to the numerous wineries in the area.

Reviews and Awards

Moss Mountain is a real gem. My wife and I stayed there two nights and then another two nights later on. It is a beautiful building with lots of light wood trim set in the forest. There are four bedrooms with one on the first floor, one on the second floor, and two on the third floor. The rooms do not have their own TV but there is a very nice common TV room with a large wood stove that should come in handy in the winter. The bedroom on the first floor is small and the queen bed fills most of the sleeping area. It also has a shower and sink area and a small “closet” for the toilet. It is connected to the atrium which might be the best feature of the facility. The atrium is large (17 by 33 feet) and complete with tables and chairs, soft chairs, and a couch. Just sitting in the atrium and watching the surrounding nature makes for a great stay. The second floor has a bedroom and the kitchen area which has two dining tables that house 6 and 4 people. The breakfasts that we had were first-rate. Pancakes, bacon, German pancakes (like crepes), fruit, scones, egg dishes, etc. The new owner and cook are very engaging and we spent at least an hour at breakfast talking with them and the other guests. The owner also was a wealth of information about Glacier National Park, places to hike outside the Park, and things to do in the surrounding cities. Other specific attributes of Moss Mountain are that the beds were very comfortable (among the best we have ever had) and the B&B provided many essential items such as bear spray, sun screen, insect repellent, 4-way cell phone charger in each room, hot tub, kitchen area with microwave and fruit, nuts, and energy bars, a common area with Keurig coffee maker, tea, and refrigerator. We highly recommend this peaceful Bed and Breakfast.

Enjoyable Experience!: We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay—delicious daily breakfast, clean and comfortable room, cozy common areas, complimentary bear and bug sprays, insightful GP tips and local dining recommendations, easy drive and access to GP and Whitefish, and our host’s friendly and warm hospitality. We will definitely return and highly recommend this Inn!

Lovely stay at Moss Mountain Inn! Moss Mountain Inn was excellent! The property is lovely, there are many areas to sit and enjoy the outside. We hiked around a pond on the back of the property. There are beautiful gardens around the chalet. Our room had a south facing balcony, which we used every day to sit and watch birds. The bed was comfortable and bath well equipped. Marguerite provided great information about the local area and Glacier Park.

Hidden Gem We had a fabulous stay at Moss Mountain! Every detail was thoughtfully considered—from the cozy towels to the excellent coffee—making the entire experience feel welcoming and effortless. The bed and breakfast was exceptionally clean, beautifully appointed, and kept us warm, comfortable, and relaxed throughout our stay. The owner was incredibly friendly and attentive, always making sure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend Moss Mountain any time of year, but its location is especially magical in winter. Just a short drive from Glacier National Park, the area is quiet, peaceful, and stunning this time of year. We stayed from February 4th to 8th and found it to be the perfect home base for exploring all the winter activities the region has to offer. We can’t wait to return!

A Hidden Gem with Heartfelt Hospitality This is quite possibly one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. The Inn is located about 10 miles from the town of Columbia Falls and is only about a 15-minute drive to the West Entrance of Glacier National Park. It sits on 6 acres that offers a pond, fire pit, hot tub, and plenty of places to stroll. The owner, Marguerite is a wonderful host. She is a pleasure to talk to, enjoys showing you around the property, and has many recommendations for what to do, see, or eat in the area. For example, we were driving to Missoula after our stay, and she recommend a beautiful scenic drive along Flathead Lake that we really enjoyed. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. We loved the soft mattress in our room. The property has many places to enjoy outside. The inn itself has a sunroom that you can enjoy, and a living room with a wood burner that is cozy on a chilly evening. The second floor offers a kitchen and dining area. A selection of coffee and teas are always available to enjoy. If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay near GNP, I highly recommend Moss Mountain Inn.

JUST AMAZING! An oasis in the middle of nature. Although 10 miles out of Columbia Falls - it is all 70mph driving and only a 10 minute drive - worth every second! Property is super well maintained and very clean. It is a self-serve continental breakfast, but has a great variety and convenient to have anytime you like.

We loved our stay here. It started to feel like home & we hated to leave. The owner (Marjarite) had the sweetest pets & we fell in love with them. The kitchen has breakfast foods such as bagels, English muffins, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, fruits, huckleberry bread & jam:) She also has snacks like granola bars, cheese & nuts. She provides things like bear spray, insect repellent & hiking sticks. The property is perfect with lots of beautiful flowers. Our bed was so comfy and had the best pillows. Our bathroom towels were great…huge & so soft. Margarite is the sweetest & so helpful with her advice on things to do & routes to take. I told her how much I loved the huckleberry jam she had & she sent me home with a jar!! I would recommend this place to everyone.
